4/26/2006 - Final practice

Although it was the last practice before regionals, it started off pretty slow. Only four people came on time, myself not included. After the standard warm-up and plyometrics, Ben had the team running sprints across the 35-yard width of the field. It was not that exhausting, but was enough to leave you out of breath.
The next thing we did was a box drill, where someone would cut from one corner to the middle and then to the adjacent corner. This is always an enjoyable drill. It was also executed very well.
The final drill was an endzone drill with defenders on the cut from the stack. The defenders made it tough to perform, but there were less problems in this drill than on Monday. Like Monday, 25 sit-ups or 70-yard sprints for drops and throwaways.

Once drilling was done around 7:45pm, the team had to move down to the club field because lights were not scheduled to turn on the upper fields that we usually play at. Unfortunately, it left is with a shorter field to play on.

Before starting the scrimmage, Allen lectured us about 5 things we should and should not do on the fields. I think these were what they were.... actually i'm just making up my own.
1) Fake when you cut
2) Look for your dump and commit to him at stall 5
3) Make hard cuts, no bananas
4) Do not get beat to the line
5) Do not poach

Scrimmage was not very extensive today. Ben decided it was a good idea to limit scrimmage as a way to prevent injuries. Split stack and reversed angle-stack were the two offenses practiced.
Practice ended aruond 8:30pm with an uplifting talk from Ben and Chewie's Bone cheer.
