And the 2007-2008 season begins

It's been over a year since I've used this blog. I really don't know if it will be used at all, but we're going to try nevertheless. Who knows. Maybe it'll become interesting.

Another year begins and it already seems like we have some awesome recruits. It is the end of 2nd week. I think the people who are still coming are staying. There are lot of good ones. Here are the ones I've met:

Danny Tran - Berkeley grad, but not with Smaug - super quick, super agile, and great throws. He's played a lot at Berkeley, but never formally with Smaug so he has all his 5 years of eligibility left to spend with UCI. He is already a great player, better than some of the vets.

Rafa's Brother - Volleyball and Hockey and BLU background - A natural athlete who is already skying some of our veterans. He already has a field sense and a good read on the disc. He'll improve quickly as he already has a forehand and backhand, prolly passed on from his sister.

Yuki - Intense and fast, this guy is going to be a great asset on the team. Already ready to sacrifice his body and layout, this guy threaded the needle with himself, laying out through two people at shoulder height to get the disc.

Josh - APU 2nd year transfer - he is an ultimate player already with a year of ultimate already under his belt. He has throws, field sense and speed. He'll make a fine cutter and will be a great asset to our team.

Phil - 110m hurdles and high jump - This guy is huge standing at a good 6'5-6'6ish height. He's walking on the field as the tallest player yet. From his track background, he is already very mobile. He knows where to cut, but his catching ability is not yet there so his ability to sky people is limited despite his height.

Chris - This guy is huge. Standing at about a 6'3 height, this guy is a heavy hitter. He has throws and the ability to sky. He is a bit slow at the moment so he's not as mobile as the other taller people.

Huy - Injured, talkative, but lots of spirit. I imagine Huy not being an all-star on the field, but an all-star on the sideline. He's a goofy kid who will be able to keep the energy on the sideline up as the 8th player on the field.

Just a few of the guys I have met. As this is only five of them means I really haven't met much of them. Other than Yuki, these guys have been to every practice, which is awesome. I look forward to a fantastic year with all of them.
