An intense two hours of conditioning and drilling, which left the team sore and fatigued. Practice began with a variety of mild leg warm-ups. Lunges for 40 yards and then 40 yard sprint back was the only new thing interested.
The main event for conditioning was difficult for most. Using a standard field lengths, it was two laps the 70 yard infield boundaries for sprints and the endzones for rests. Then 25 push-ups and 50 situps. We did this twice. Basically it was like doing eight 70-yard sprints, 50 push-ups and 100 situps. Surprisingly, the push-ups and situps in between the 1st and 2nd set made the 2nd set a lot harder.
A quick endzone drill was done after conditioning to loosen things up and to cool down.
Next up was box drill where, starting from one corner of the box, you cut to the middle and head to another corner of the box.
And finally, we practiced each offense with games to 3 for sprints. Vertical, Zone O, and split stack were done in that order.
A new way of communicating strategies was developed by Allen. It works by using a three-letter word. The first letter corresponds to vertical stack, the 2nd letter responds to the horizontal stack, and the third letter corresponds to the split stack. Example: JAM
J = vertical, A = horizontal, M = split
