Today's practice dealed exclusively with a force-sideline zone. Both offense and defense were practiced and improved. Initially, the captain's told each player to pick one primary offensive position, and two primary defensive positions to play. This is because offense is usually set and the poppers and deeps have similar cuts while the handlers already have specific jobs. However, the defensive positions must be much more dynamic since the positions are played much different. Plus it helps to understand the role of multiple positions.
Zone Scrimmage Teams
Light - Me, Allen, Jerry, Sam, Stig, Phil, Peter, Sherlock
Dark - Box, Miller, KG, Yang, Max, Josh, Bryan(truffles)
Sideline - Guy, Alma, Atomic
First two games focused on possession. The rules of the game: Each team had five possessions to score.
During the first game, score ended with a tie of 3 to 3.
During the second game, I think I remember light winning because dark had some very bad throwaways.
The scrimmage was fun. Light dominated the game pretty easily. But I believe light had the advantage because they had more people that could handle the disc and they had a sub. I think Yang played especially well. It was also nice to see Max, Josh and Truffles back in the game. Their rustiness probably also contributed to light's win too.
